NV medical marijuana patients are hoping to get a quick-track approval from the state’s Department of Health in just over two weeks.
Nevada Health Department Director Dr. Scott Johnson said Monday that applications for medical marijuana licenses in the state will be available Jan. 20.
The department has previously estimated that about 6,000 Nevadans will qualify.
The application period opens on Jan. 15.
The state is accepting applications for a variety of medical marijuana facilities.
However, there are two restrictions that apply to dispensaries.
The first is that they can’t have more than 20 employees, and the second is that the state is not permitted to sell any cannabis products to minors.
There are currently three medical marijuana dispensaries in Nevada, all located in the Las Vegas area.
There is also a medical dispensary in Las Vegas that is licensed to sell to adults, but it’s unclear if that dispensary will be licensed to distribute medical marijuana.
