Orlando City will be hoping that their two-game winning streak over Orlando Pride can be put to bed, and the Lions are looking forward to a home game against the defending MLS Cup champions.
The Lions will be looking to rebound from a dismal 3-2 defeat in Orlando City Stadium, which saw Orlando City concede five goals on five shots in the first half.
Orlando City has scored just five goals in their last five games against the Pride.
“We want to get our record back to three wins and win this game,” Orlando City coach Adrian Heath said.
“I think we’re starting to get some momentum back.”
The Lions, who have not been able to find the net since April 1, have not beaten Orlando City since May 1, a span of 18 games.
Orlando has won its last five home matches against Orlando City, scoring just twice in those games.
“Our focus is just going to be to get back to scoring goals and hopefully find some wins,” Heath said, adding that the team will look to improve on the first three points it scored in the Orlando City game.
Orlando’s last two games have gone to penalties.
The team has not scored a goal since May 10, a 1-0 defeat at the Red Bull Arena, and a 2-0 win over the Portland Timbers on June 8.
The Pride have scored just one goal in three matches.
The teams last meeting was a 1 1-1 draw on March 25, when Orlando City scored two goals in the second half.
This is the first meeting between the teams since Orlando City defeated Orlando Pride 3-0 at Orlando City Arena in 2015.
The last time the teams met was in Orlando, where Orlando City beat the Pride 4-2 on July 5, 2016.
Orlando will look for another win after dropping their last two home matches to the Red Bulls.
Orlando lost 4-0 in Orlando on March 24, 2016, while Orlando City won 5-1 on March 23.
The match will be broadcast live on ESPN2, UniMas and RDS.
